1. The Thalamus: Structure and Relations

The thalamus is the largest part of the diencephalon. It is organized into several surfaces and ends:
- Anterior End: Forms the posterior boundary of the interventricular foramen of Monro.
- Posterior End (Pulvinar): Overhangs the midbrain.
- Superior Surface: Related to the caudate nucleus, lateral ventricle, thalamostriate vein, and stria terminalis.
- Inferior Surface: Related to the subthalamus, hypothalamus, and the tegmentum of the midbrain.
- Medial Surface: Forms the lateral wall of the third ventricle.
- Lateral Surface: Related to the posterior limb of the internal capsule and the lentiform nucleus.

2. Thalamic Nuclei Groups

The internal medullary lamina (white matter) divides the gray matter into:
- Anterior Group: Located between the limbs of the "Y".
- Medial Group: Medial to the lamina.
- Lateral Group: Includes the Nucleus Lateralis Dorsalis (LD), Nucleus Lateralis Posterior (LP), and the Pulvinar.
- Ventral Group:

4. The Hypothalamus
